Baamboozle - What do you want for Christmas?
Hello again! How are you?
This time I would like to tell you about Baamboozle. In my opinion, it is a wonderful resource to work on any of the four skills, i.e. listening, reading, writing and speaking. It gives us the opportunity to work on content about different topics, to give students immediate feedback and to create material for all ages. Even though we can use resources already elaborated by other colleagues, I believe it is essential that we create them ourselves. Don't you think it's wonderful? Thanks to it, we can adapt them to the needs and characteristics of our learners.
As Christmas is coming soon, I have decided to use Baamboozle to teach the pupils new vocabulary to use when writing their letter to Santa Claus. To do this, I will divide the class into two groups and the pupils will have to guess which presents we are talking about by reading the questions. At the end, we will brainstorm about what they are going to ask for Christmas. We will also talk about how important it is to ask for what we really want and need. Finally, each student will write their letter and when they finish, they will read them in pairs. Here is the link to access the activity: https://www.baamboozle.com/game/1931706 .
I hope you like it! Do you have any suggestions?

Absolutely, I think Baamboozle is a fantastic resource! It's amazing how versatile it is for honing different language skills. I completely agree that creating our own materials allows for tailor-made content that suits our learners' needs perfectly. Your Christmas-themed activity sounds fantastic! It's a creative and engaging way to teach new vocabulary while also encouraging thoughtful reflection through letter-writing. Thanks for sharing the link—I'll definitely check it out! If I were to suggest anything, maybe incorporating a discussion on cultural differences in Christmas traditions could add an extra layer of interest to the activity. Overall, great job!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Esti!
ReplyDeleteI am completely excited about this Bamboozle resource that you have used to create a writing activity. I strongly believe that it is such a great idea to foster activities linked to cultural traditions and so it is Christmas. Thanks to the motivation that this festivity gives them, writing a letter to Santa Claus can be the task that engages them into a proper and active wiriting.
In addition, I agree with Gerard that it would be a fantastic idea to discover other cutural traditions from the pupils of our class and therefore, make everyone feel included and validated in their own culture and nationality.
Thank you very much for suggesting this resource and creating this great activity, I will use it from now on for sure.
Kind regards,
Julia Méndez.
