Quizizz - I bet you can't guess!

Hello to all of you!

There is a new student in the 5th year of Primary of my school. Although she was born in Spain, her family comes from China and in order to introduce her, we thought we would talk about their traditions. The Christmas holidays and the end of the year are coming soon, so I think it can be a good idea to use one of the British Council (2023) audios about the Chinese New Year. Thanks to this, the children will learn about another culture and practice their listening skills.

Nevertheless, how are we going to assess the children's level of understanding? There are many resources, but one of my favourites is Quizizz. It is a tool that allows us to create activities with a clear pedagogical objective for free. Moreover, we can create five types of quizzes: multiple choice, checkbox, fill in the blanks, open answer and survey. What's more, it can be played live or used as a homework assignment. Students can get immediate feedback and although we must not forget that competitiveness can be dangerous, students are highly motivated. Do you know this resource? Here is the activity that I have created to practice listening comprehension:

After the necessary warm-up and contextualisation, students will listen to the audio. While listening to it a second time, they will answer the Quizizz questions. Finally, we will review the results with the whole group and discuss their answers. From my point of view, it can be a great opportunity to learn in a meaningful way, as the context of the learner is taken into account and gamification is used, which is essential to ensure the interest, motivation and active participation of the learner. Do you agree? Feel free to share your opinion!
