Puzzle maker - Finding the secret path!

Image
Hi everyone! In my opinion, there is not a single person in the world who doesn't like adventures, and even less in the case of children. Don't you think so? I remember when I was little I used to love discovering secret clues to find messages and magic places. I had even more fun when I was with my friends! This is exactly what Puzzlemaker offers us. Do you know this ICT tool? This resource gives us the possibility to practice English promoting motivation and uncertainty in our students. In addition, we can create our own word searches, crosswords, mazes and other similar puzzles to print out and spend time solving them. What's more, I would like to point out that this is not just an app for teachers to use, as families and older pupils could also take advantage of it. If used for pedagogical purposes, it can promote active and meaningful learning in which students use their creativity and improve their level of linguistic competence. One of its great advantages is that y...

Wordwall - Every culture is different!

Hello again! Today I am going to show you one of my latest discoveries. Do you like teaching through games? Do you think motivation is an important factor when learning a new language? Do you want your students to participate actively? If the answer is yes, Wordwall is an ideal ICT resource for you. I'm sure you'll love it! Although we must not forget that technology cannot and should not replace the role of the teacher, I believe that it is a great tool to improve the teaching and learning process and to attend to the diversity of our students. Do you agree? This ICT resource is a clear example of this. Thanks to Wordwall we can create quizzes, matching games, random wheels, anagrams, flashcards, crosswords, wordsearch games, labelled diagramas, and so on. If you subscribe, it gives you even more options, but I think the free version is already amazing. Even though all four skills can be worked on, this time I will use it to practise reading comprehension. Can ...

Baamboozle - What do you want for Christmas?

Image
Hello again! How are you? This time I would like to tell you about Baamboozle . In my opinion, it is a wonderful resource to work on any of the four skills, i.e. listening, reading, writing and speaking. It gives us the opportunity to work on content about different topics, to give students immediate feedback and to create material for all ages. Even though we can use resources already elaborated by other colleagues, I believe it is essential that we create them ourselves. Don't you think it's wonderful? Thanks to it, we can adapt them to the needs and characteristics of our learners.  As Christmas is coming soon, I have decided to use Baamboozle to teach the pupils new vocabulary to use when writing their letter to Santa Claus. To do this, I will divide the class into two groups and the pupils will have to guess which presents we are talking about by reading the questions. At the end, we will brainstorm about what they are going to ask for Christmas. We will also talk ...

Quizizz - I bet you can't guess!

Image
Hello to all of you! There is a new student in the 5th year of Primary of my school. Although she was born in Spain, her family comes from China and in order to introduce her, we thought we would talk about their traditions. The Christmas holidays and the end of the year are coming soon, so I think it can be a good idea to use one of the British Council (2023) audios about the Chinese New Year . Thanks to this, the children will learn about another culture and practice their listening skills . Nevertheless, how are we going to assess the children's level of understanding? There are many resources, but one of my favourites is Quizizz . It is a tool that allows us to create activities with a clear pedagogical objective for free. Moreover, we can create five types of quizzes: multiple choice, checkbox, fill in the blanks, open answer and survey. What's more, it can be played live or used as a homework assignment. Students can get immediate feedback and although we must not forget ...
